Angela Harriell
Angela Harriell is the director and choreographer of Nutcracker: Rated R.  She is also the founder and choreographer of the cabaret dance troupe, The Love Show.  Her choreography has been called witty, moving, unique and theatrical with narratives  that are simultaneously autobiographical and universal. A graduate of Fredonia University, she has worked with Elisa Monte and David Brown dance, Randy James Danceworks, and Binghamton University. Since moving to New York and founding The Love Show in 2002, Angela’s work has been seen at The Flea Theater, HERE theater, The New York Burlesque Festival, White Wave Dance Festival, The Philly Fringe Festival’s Late Night Cabaret, and different nightclubs throughout New York. She has also set and directed two Off-Off-Broadway productions, the most recent, Nutcracker: Rated R, selling out runs in 2006, 2007 and 2008. A piece from the show was selected to be presented at the National Arts Club, where Angela performed as part of a special gala with such luminaries as Elaine Stritch, Tammy Grimes, Charles Busch and Julie Halston. Angela recently finished a stint performing as a Hammerstein Beauty at Simon Hammerstein’s notorious downtown supper club, The Box, as well as runs with Brooklyn Ballet, Brooklyn Repertory Opera and Opéra Français de New York. She has been spotted amongst the glitterati in the pages of Patrick McMullan’s website. Angela has also appeared in several television and music video spots, with the most recent being an ABC Primetime documentary on connections in the dance world. Angela has performed with such legendary recording artists as Gloria Gaynor, Shannon, France Joli, Peaches and Herb, Sugar Hill Gang, The Trammps and Bonnie Pointer.

Jennifer Carlson
Jennifer Carlson is from Albany NY.  She trained and performed with the Albany Berkshire Ballet the Capital Ballet and the Hartford Ballet. Since she moved to NY she has danced with Urban Ballet Theater, Off Center Dance Theater, with Noemi Lafrance in two productions of Descent, Bodiography Contemporary Ballet, Silver Brown Dance Company, in the Production of Pirrot and Pirouette and as a principal dancer and currently the Artistic Director and choreographer of Axis Danz.   She has presented her work at the Downtown Dance Festival, Fire Island Dance Festival, Solstice Times Square, Steps Lab, Dance Space Showcases, Tea Party, The Box, the Soto Valez Community Center, and produced her first evening length show in November of 2007 “With a Twist” where excerpts from “All Axis Exit Only”, a work currently in progress were premiered.  Jennifer has also been commissioned to create works for the U.S. Open, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Ford Motors, J.P. Morgan Chase Manhattan, Anna Vici live in concert, MTV, Vissionaire, Sandals, and Absolut.   Her children’s show “Elemental” has been performed at schools around the Northeast.  Jennifer graduated with honors in the summer of 2008 from Hunter College with a BA in psychology. She is ecstatic to be a part of The Nutcracker Rated R. 
Hyosun Choi
Hyosun Choi of Southern California began her training in ballroom dancing at age 7, winning National and Regional Ballroom Dance Competitions. At the age of ten she attended Ko Soo Hee Dance School, performing Korean cultural dancing for six years. In California, she mainly studied at Australian Institute of Dramatic Arts, Beverly Hills Playhouse, and Edge Performing Arts Center. Since moving to New York in 2006, she trained at Atlantic Acting School, Alvin Ailey, Broadway Dance Center and STEPS, worked with I-danse, Noa Sagie: A Dance Project, Gabrielle Lansner and Company, LiNK! Dance Company and Vissi Dance Theater, and performed in Off-Broadway shows such as The Shanghai Gesture (Mirror Repertory), and Because of Beth (Workshop Theater). She is grateful to be part of Nutcracker:Rated R for a second season.
Sarah Conrad
Sarah is over the moon to be joining the cast of Nutcracker: Rated R for a third season! When not knitting tea cozies, baking laborious pies, and trying to be simultaneously seductive and witty; this Paris, KY native can be seen strutting her stuff regularly with The Love Show and SOTU Productions. Other exciting endeavors include performing at the 2009 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, J-Lo's Havana Nights, America's Got Talent with the notoriously eccentric Flambeaux, and shaking her tush at Cirque Du Soleil's 25th Anniversary celebration! Sarah holds a B.F.A. in Performing Arts from Western Kentucky University ya'll, which after her thatch hook collection, she considers as her most prized possession. This Christmas Sarah would like to ask Santa for an iPhone so she can join those in the higher echelons of Cool, a sack of rhinestones, and a velvet Elvis. Or at the very least a rhinestone Elvis applique for her iPhone.  Sarah sends warmest thanks to her darling Will, her rockin' family, and dearest friends for all of their support, particularly those with occasional monetary support. Amy Daulton
Amy is a stand up and sketch comedienne who has performed nationally and internationally for the past twelve years. She is a member of the two person sketch group Fantastic Genius and is currently running her one woman show, "How To Be A Better Neurotic" at Gotham City Improv Theater. She has performed at the Boston Improv, Providence Improv , Lowell Comedy and New York Underground Comedy Festivals.  She will be performing at The North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival in February 2010. She has performed along side Fred Willard, Paul F. Tompkins, Patton Oswalt, Zach Galifianakis, Maria Bamford, etc . Amy  would like to thank Angela taking a chance on a crazy stand up comedienne with a dream to dance.  She would also like to thank David for not laughing too hard at her during the audition process.  Thanks to the Nut cast and crew for the tremendous supportive (everyone of them kick serious ass).  And a special thanks to Dave Grohl for being so freaking hot.
Gregory Dubin
Gregory  is thrilled to be back dancing and moving in the Nutcracker: Rated R for a fourth year.  An “actor who can move”, he received training at the American Conservatory Theater as well as The Jean Shelton Actors Lab in San Francisco.  He currently studies long form improv at The Magnet Theater here in New York. Gregory has performed extensively on both coasts, appearing in numerous commercials, films, short films, student films, and Bar Mitzvah videos. Glenn Giron
Glenn attended the University of Oklahoma for Musical Theater for two years.  He owes everything to his family and friends who fully support him, especially in his decision to come out here early!  He can't believe he is lucky enough to be where he is right now,  his life has been truly blessed.  He is MOST thrilled to be a part of this funky and artistic cast, what a great group of people!  Thank you for bringing me on board!  Happy Holidays!  I love you all!!!... Eddie Gutierrez
Eddie is a native New Yorker, multi-medium performer, and long-term vegetarian. In theatre, he has been a part of original adaptations of Peter Pan, Animal Farm, and even the website PostSecret; has collaborated with Moisés Kaufman and Tectonic Theater Project; and has acted in a handful of plays and readings around NYC. In dance, he is a company member of Diego Funes’s De Funes Dance, Marinda Davis’s MarInspired (debuting 2010), and Angela Harriell’s neo-cabaret The Love Show. And in music, he sits at home and plays his keyboard. He has performed at several downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn venues such as the Public Theater, Judson Memorial Church, Galapagos Art Space, and Public Assembly. He can also be seen in the new web-series O-Cast on a computer near you! (www.o-cast.com) Recently, Eddie’s original one-man show, Loveology, debuted at NYU’s Experimental Theatre Wing and was then selected to be part of Ars Nova’s second annual ANT FEST for a one-night engagement. Katrin “Lucy” Hoffmann
Lucy is from Stuttgart, Germany where she started to practice rhythmic gymnastics at the age of 5. Things got way out of hand the following 13 years and she ended up competing at the Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia in 1996 with the German National Team. She holds a master degree in business administration, law and sports from the University of Bayreuth, Germany and performed with the university’s dance company during her studies. After working as a sport sponsoring and marketing manager in Munich, Germany she moved to New York City in 2009. Initially, to work in an office, but stage is fine, too.
She likes to thank Angela so much for giving her the chance to participate in the fabulous Nutcracker: Rated R – not only with the ribbon alias sperm tail choreography but also as a real member of the cast. The wonderful crew really made her feel at home in New York City.
Denis Hyland
Favorite roles include Jack in Reefer Madness, Frankenfurter in Rocky Horror and Frank Sinatra in My Way. Mr. Hyland has danced with Ohio Ballet, Metropolitan Topeka Ballet, Boca Ballet, The Ballet for Young Audiences NYC, and Key West Contemporary Dance Co. Denis is thrilled to be part of Angela and David's family of artists.
Valton Jackson
Valton is a southern boy all the way from Columbus, Georgia. He graduated from Berea College in Berea, Kentucky with a B.A. in Theatre Performance. He was also highly involved in the music and dance departments being featured in several choral, chamber, and dance concerts. He also cheered for Berea his junior and senior year. A singer first, Valton has performed under regional theatre and theme park contracts throughout his career including A Chorus Line, High School Musical, Seussical, and Six Flags America. He also signed a contract with the Wilhelmina Dan Agency in Nashville, Tennessee while contracted at the Renaissance Center in the Fall of 08. Overseas, Valton was a guest choreographer and dance teacher for Skals Efterskole in Skals, Denmark in January 07 and 09. Nutcracker: Rated R marks Valton's debut as a performer in the big apple and he could not be more ecstatic. This is his first season with the show and he is greatly inspired by all the gifted performers in the cast. He also loves his mommy and brother Devin so so much. 
Christina Johnson
Christina Johnson fell in love with dance back in the 1990’s.  She was dancing in Portland, OR with BodyVox, Bent, and Kinetic Images dance companies and entertaining the idea of being a “dancer”.  She moved to Seattle where she co-founded Jerboa Dance (www.jerboadance.com), and has dedicated her professional life to the arts ever since.  Her time in Seattle was spent learning and performing with many prominent companies and choreographers, including: Cheronne Wong, BetterBiscuit, XODO, Alethea Adsitt, Fusion, and Seattle Jazz. After finding success in Seattle and to continue her growth as an artist, she moved across the country. Having joined the New York dance scene in 2005, Christina is proud to have been on stage with The Love Show, Shir Dance Theater, Eva Dean Dance, Anahid Sofian Dance Company, Gilgamesh Theater, Witches in Bikinis, Neomi Lefrance, The Poon Show, & independentdancemaker/Kara Tatelbaum.  She is so excited to be with the Nutcracker: Rated R for her fourth year.  Thanks to all for your love and support of dance.

The Love Show's very own 'Spitfire' is returning for her second year of Nutcracker: Rated R mayhem! This 4'11 dancer, actress, choreographer hails from sunny South Florida and received her training at Dance Dimensions in Fort Lauderdale under the tutelage of Ms. Angela Mauti. She continued her education at various programs held by Virginia School of the Arts, Atlanta Ballet, Sarasota Ballet and attended the River North Chicago Dance Company and American Dance Festival Programs. Graduating magna cum laude with a BFA in Dance Performance from Towson University in Maryland, she is grateful for the opportunity to be mentored by Ms. Linda-Denise Fisher-Harrell of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

Upon moving to New York in 2008, Rachael has highlighted her career with performing alongside Duran Duran, Bryant Park's Fashion Week, teaching in Sao Paolo, Brazil and making her cinematic debut!

She is also the head choreographer for national dance performance catalogue Algy, artistic director of Mass Movement Movement Company and has recently performed at World Financial Center's 60x60 at the Winter Garden Theater.

Michael MacLaren
Michael MacLaren holds a BA in Chemistry and Theatre Arts from Santa Clara University.  After working in the biotech industry for a few years, he moved to New York to become a full-time performer.  He recently appeared as Benjamin in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and as Wickersham #1 in Seussical at Woodminster Summer Musicals.  He originated the role of the Lamplighter in Christmas Dreamland at American Musical Theatre of San Jose.  Other regional credits include Sweet Charity at Downtown Cabaret Theatre and Hello, Dolly! at Ogunquit Playhouse starring Sally Struthers.  In addition to theatre, he plays acoustic guitar sets at bars around the city and plugs in the electric to play for The Love Show.  He also performs as a supernumerary at The Metropolitan Opera.  Michael is excited to return for a third year of Nutcracker: Rated R.  Much love to Mom and Dad.

Kenneth Marez
B-Boy / Artist  Kenneth “ Ken Fury” Marez Jr. was raised in Pueblo, Colorado, where he grew up with a strong desire of self expression and a passion for dance. At the age of eleven, he taught himself to Break Dance by observing and studying his idols; winning 1st place in many competitions nationwide, he trained with the Lordz of Finesse crew in Denver, and at the age of sixteen he performed with artists such as Rahzel and Kurtis Blow.  Ken Fury joined the dance company Full Circle Productions, performing the show, “Hip Hop to Da Head”, at New York University, Kennedy Center, and The Smithsonian Theatre in Washington D.C.  In 2007 he performed at The Central Park Summer Stage.  He was featured in a K- SWISS print advertisement and an “I Love New York” commercial. Living in New York and realizing that the bustling streets can be a stage, he danced and learned from “The New York City Float Committee”, whom are known as some of the most legendary pioneers in Break Dance history. Ken Fury’s dream is not only to become the best dancer he could be, but to inspire others how to express their souls through dance and has taught many classes to youths at high schools, dance studios, and community centers.

Ryan Schmidt
Joseph Schles
Joseph Schles is thrilled to return for his fourth year in Nutcracker: Rated R.  He hails from southern California, where snow is just a myth, and now he pouts every winter when it's colder outside then it is in his refrigerator.  He's done some shows and stuff, you can ask him about it if you'd like to hire him for something. Joseph has be seen hobnobbing with the rich and famous all over NYC at some high profile restaurants such as Rosa Mexicano, Nobu, and Tao (usually trying to take their order). Some goals include landing a lead role in a movie, befriending Alanis Morissette and Kathy Griffin, and toppling the Time Warner empire.  But most of all Joseph dreams of one day possibly having his own personal washer and dryer in his apartment.  He'd like to thank his incredible family and friends for their unwavering support, Angela Harriell and David Slone for letting him perform with them over and over again, the whole Love Show gang (and Nuts) and also 'Nick at Nite' for playing 'Roseanne' so often lately, so that he can laugh himself to sleep every night.
Ryan Schmidt
Ryan Schmidt began her dance training at the age of 2 and has not stopped since. She has studied ballet, pointe, modern, contemporary, jazz, tap, and hip hop in addition to vocal performance and musical theater. At Western Michigan University, Ryan graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and was chosen as the department’s Presidential Scholar. She currently lives in New York City where she is a company member of Adams Company Dance and vonUssar Danceworks, as well as a freelance aerialist, performing specialty acts including aerial hoop, fabric, and hammock.

Ryan has performed George Balanchine’s Serenade, Robert Battle’s Alleluia, and Lou Conte’s The 40s, and has danced at Washington, D.C.’s John F. Kennedy Center and most recently, NYC’s Lincoln Center, where she performed Mark Dendy’s Preliminary Study for Depth. Ryan is thrilled to be working with the welcoming and talented cast of Nutcracker: Rated R and hopes that everyone in the audience will sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!
David F. Slone, Esq.
David is far too busy updating this website to be able to properly express his gratitude for being allowed to work with so many talented, dedicated artists. He is as pleased as can be to be back at TNC, where he co-produced and performed in the last three seasons of Nutcracker: Rated R and has performed in pieces by Evan Laurence and Jack Bump, as well as several festivals. Other venues in which David has performed include La MaMa, Dixon Place, HERE, Soho Rep, The Ohio Theater, Galapagos Art Space, Mo Pitkin’s, Rififi, Rebel Nightclub, The Bell House and Jimmy’s No. 43. Julie Smith
Julie is so excited to finally be in a role she first longed to play twenty years ago! It was in that ballet school, rehearsing The Nutcracker Suite, where her dream of being a professional dancer began... In NYC, she received a BFA in Acting and trained at the Martha Graham school. She went on to dance with a modern company, Coyote Dancers Co., for two seasons. After some vocal training, musical theatre was the next step. She went on to perform in regional theater and Off’ B’dway houses, and in National and European tours. Favorite roles include Val in the European tour of A Chorus Line, and Stephanie in the Broadway tour of Saturday Night Fever. Presently, Julie enjoys occasionally playing nurse "Josie" on One Life to Live, singing and dancing with THE LOVE SHOW, and being married to Greg.
Clare Tobin
Clare is originally from New Jersey and moved to New York City in 2006, after finishing a BA in Human Biology at Stanford University.  At Stanford, she had the opportunity to dance the lead in Paquita, the 3rd Theme and Phlegmatic in Balanchine's The Four Temperaments, and in two original ballets by Amy Seiwert.  Highlights of her years in NYC have included performing in Istanbul, on QVC and The Late Show with David Letterman, and in a Russian cell phone commercial.  She has also danced with New Generation Dance Company, among other smaller companies, and enjoys performing with Angela Harriell year-round in her Love Show.  She would like to thank Angela for being so accommodating and making her fourth year of Nutcracker: Rated R possible: Clare is also currently dancing in Les Contes d'Hoffmann at the Metropolitan Opera.  And, she is thrilled to be the Nutcracker: Rated R poster child this year!
