Jorge Colombo designs digital sets for Nutcracker: Rated R... on an iPhone! Nutcracker: Rated R is proud to announce that Jorge Colombo is designing digital sets for this year's production. In the past year, Jorge garnered considerable notability for his NYC images finger-painted on an iPhone, using the Brushes app. This notoriety led to three covers of The New Yorker, as well as a picture blog on The New Yorker's website. The medium allows him to craft beautiful pieces that look entirely organic, and also to play back each and every brush stroke that goes into making them. He is thus able to design projections that are alive, images being built before our eyes, one brushstroke at a time. To our knowledge, this is the first time that such a set has been attempted. A photographer, designer, and filmmaker, as well as a successful illustrator, Jorge has been a long-time collaborator with The Love Show: in 2006 he created the original poster and press photos for Nutcracker: Rated R. Near the beginning of last season, Nutcracker: Rated R started the tradition of opening every show with a delightfully comical number by Group Hug.
